Accessibility

We want this website to be easy to use for as many people as possible. That means we aim for you to be able to read text clearly and zoom in without the layout breaking, navigate most of the site using a keyboard, use common screen readers to access our main content, and find information in a clear, logical order. If you have any difficulty using this site, we genuinely want to know so we can improve it.

How we design for accessibility

When we create and update this website, we aim to:

  • use clear headings and plain English

  • keep layouts simple and uncluttered

  • use good colour contrast between text and background

  • avoid relying on colour alone to convey meaning

  • make links and buttons descriptive (for example, “Privacy & Cookies Notice” rather than “Click here”)

  • ensure text is readable on desktop and mobile

We are working towards good practice based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as far as is reasonable for a small organisation.

Using accessibility tools

Most browsers and devices include features that can make websites easier to use. For example, you can usually:

  • zoom in to make text larger (often Ctrl + + on Windows or Cmd + + on Mac)

  • use reader modes to simplify layouts

  • turn on high contrast or dark mode

  • use screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS

If you’re not sure how to use these features, your browser or device help pages are a good place to start.

Content that might not be fully accessible yet

We try to make all new content as accessible as possible. However, you may still find:

  • occasional documents we share by email or in print that are not optimised for screen readers

  • older documents that don’t meet the same standards as newer content

If you need any information in a different format — for example large print, a simpler summary, or an accessible digital version — please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.

If you can’t access part of this website

If you find any page or content hard to use, please let us know:

Email: nhns@hotmail.co.uk

Phone: +44 (0)7531 626 499

It helps if you can tell us:

  • which page you were trying to use (a link if possible)

  • what you were trying to do

  • what went wrong or what was difficult (for example “text too small” or “screen reader couldn’t read the content”)

We’ll review the issue and let you know what we can do.

Physical access to the nursery

If you’re planning a visit and have questions about physical access, please get in touch so we can talk through your needs.

We can discuss things like:

  • pram and buggy access

  • mobility needs

  • where to park and the easiest route to the entrance

Contact us using the details above and we’ll be happy to help plan your visit.

Feedback

We know we won’t always get everything right first time. If you have ideas about how we can make this website more accessible or easier to use, we’d really welcome your feedback.
